Florida Impressions originally began in 2004 as a simple website to showcase photos I had taken while spending time outdoors participating in various activities around the state of Florida.  As the database of photos grew I frequently received messages from friends and visitors to the site who were curious about where the photographs were taken. 

As a 5th generation Florida native, I've always had a great passion for Florida's natural places and have always enjoyed sharing that passion with others.  In 2007 I enrolled in the excellent Florida Master Naturalist Program from the University of Florida, and as part of my project in that program I decided to expand the Florida Impressions website to include information that can help visitors find places to explore and activities to do.

Since then the site has gone through a couple of redesigns, and in 2009 the decision was made to perform a complete overhaul to take advantage of some of the new technologies that are now available for the web in an attempt to create a better online experience.  We re-launched the website on January 1, 2010 and are now in the process of bringing some of the original functionalities back online to share with others who have a love for Florida's outdoors.

While we still have a lot of work ahead of us and lots of information to add back to the site, our core mission remains...

Inspire, Explore, Do More

While we're dealing with all of the techie stuff that goes on behind the scenes, we're still dedicated to the pursuit of finding more places to explore and outdoor activities to participate in.  We have some great adventures planned for 2011, and we're looking forward to sharing them with you to hopefully inspire you to get outside to see all of the great things Florida has to offer.
